Pumping water ranks down there with washing dishes on the favorite chore lists of most backcountry enthusiasts. While we can't do anything about the discomfort of stooping over a stream or lake, the WaterWorks EX reduces your time spent on task, especially if you're supplying water to a large group or a well-equipped base camp. The WaterWorks EX features a practical device called an AirSpring Accumulator to improve your water pumping efficiency about a liter per minute--a 45% improvement compared to similarly sized filters. It works by trapping an air bubble inside the redesigned filter housing. This air bubble compresses on the down stroke to store energy then expands on the upstroke to push water further through the ceramic cartridge. Because the inside of the cartridge is under constant pressure, more water flows through in less time. That adds up to more break time during your breaks--which is a good thing at any altitude. : Improves water flow to roughly a liter per minute. Ideal for large groups and expeditions.

Wow really easy to use! - I am 100% new to using portable water filters. Frankly I purchased a number of these units for my family for camping but also in case of a national emergency..Why? Take a look at the tsunami victims in southeast asia. Their #1 issue was clean water or rather the lack of it. When the MSR Water Works EX unit came I studied the instructions for a few minutes and hooked everything up. Following the tips about using a new filter was very helpful. Overall the unit is VERY VERY easy to pump and I did not expect a novice like myself to gain so much confidence with it. I think it is very well designed and gives confidence seeing the filter working with each stroke....

Great filter Fast and great tasting - Played with it at REI last time I was there and fell in love with it. Really nice flow rate ceramic filter easily cleaned with the little scrubby included. comfortable to pump for long periods of time. Only down side I have had is the ceramic filter is a bit brittle if dropped on the ground. I cracked mine and didn't bring a spare. Also the prefilter is a bit lacking just a small piece of foam. But is easily remedied with a piece of cheese cloth doubled over and rubberbanded on. Have fun out there

convienient - The way it attatches to the Nalgene bottles rocks. No more worrying about spilling your water while you pump.
