Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's Information:

Windproof, trim and versatile, the WindStopper Tech Jacket is ideal for Nordic skiing, snowshoe trekking and other physical outdoor winter fun. It has a Gore WindStopper membrane that keeps the garment windproof without compromising the breathability of the fabric. The WindStopper Tech Jacket protects you against convective heat loss with outstanding thermal efficiency. In case you do get too warm, the extra long pit zips give you plenty of ventilation in seconds. Power Stretch cuffs won't absorb water. The WindStopper Tech Jacket is perfect alone on clear, cold blustery days, or beneath a waterproof and breathable rain shell during wet outings. Windproof active wear that's perfect alone on cold, clear blustery days.
  • Top quality jacket - After hearing great reviews I decided to purchase it and have no regrets. The jacket is light well constucted with top quality. I can't wait for winter because this will keep me warm. Execellent service from altrec. I'm altrec customer for life.
  • Well built if not a bit pricey - The garment is well tailored. Other reviewers certainly have commented on the quality of construction which I agree. Pit Zips are a plus for any jacket - especially for backpacking where taking off a jacket is inconvenient. I am weary of wearing this jacket solely as my outer layer below 32 degrees unless one is exerting and not sitting still. Mountain Hardwear has the label /name brand that some look for as a status symbol similar to The North Face line. I feel the logo is a bit too boldly emblazed across the chest for my tastes. I would recommend Mountain Hardwear place snap tabs to lock the cuffs into place when worn under a parka similar to what Campmor does as well as what The North Face has done with their Down Nuptse Jacket. As a Scoutmaster I'm always looking for the best value for the my Scout's money. I wouldn't recommend this jacket for price conscious consumers. I have a Campmor High Peaks Pinnacle II Fleece Jacket that has all the features as the the Windstopper Tech jacket except the wind-resistent layer for $39.99. I notice that Campmor has Windban Fleece Jacket tailored similarly to the Mountain Hardwear product with a DuPont Hytrel membrane. I have not worn this garment however but suspect it's warrants consideration at $69.99.
  • Great jacket lots of features. - The windstopper works very well making it light yet warm jacket. The pockets are well designed and the pit zips are great (I wouldn't get a jacket that warm without them).
  • Great Jacket - This jacket functionally is excellent. Although I'm not too sure I am happy with the looks. The mountain hardwear logo is tacky looking and I am not fond of the flap on the horizontal chest pocket which should probably be vertical. I docked this jacket one point because I personally wasn't too excited about the looks however functionally it does everything right and it feels like an improved version of the north face denali jacket.
  • Perfect Jacket!!! - All in all one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. The jacket is comfortable can be adjusted by open heating vents to keep you cool when exerting yourself. Not only that but its perfect for any outdoor activity because of it adaptability. I would reccomend this jacket to everyone.
  • Great Price!! - I originally bought this jacket from REI. REI wanted 189.00 for it & Altrec had it on sale for 149.00 & they had the right size (REI only had XL in one color - Altrec had it in the color I wanted) - so I bought it from Altrec & got free shipping with a promo they were running. I returned the jacket to REI for a full refund.
  • Tight Jacket - Good Jacket. Great look. Not the warmest thing; but great for layering. Lots of pockets and ventilation. Tends to attract lint and is a bit pricey for what you get.
  • light warm and windproof! - This jacket is awsome! Its perfect for any type of cool weather. Looks great and fits well.
  • Superb Fleece - I got this jacket for backpacking spring skiing and everyday wear. I bought a TNF Denali jacket but it is too heavy and bulky. It also isn't windproof as well like the MH jacket. I was worried about sizing looking at other reviews since I'm pretty thin but the XL fit my 6'4" inch frame pretty well. It looks fine with a mild cinch in the waist. My only complaint is that it is not as light as I thought it would be. The XL weighed in at 24 ounces on my scales. I was hoping for 20 ounces but that is the cost of XL. The Windstopper Vest feels significantly lighter in the XL. I have had excellent service with Altrec with all my purchases so far and I continue to scan their website for sale items.
  • extremely versatile - This jacket is perfect for those in between temperatures and activity levels. The pit zips keep you comfortable while on the move but it cinches down nicely when you need to retain more heat. Windstopper material was a good choice for this item.
