Osprey Packs Atmos 50 Backpack Information:

If there was ever one nagging critique about most well-designed, ultra-ergonomic Osprey packs, it was the weight. Osprey's Atmos 50 silences the critics with over 3,200 cubic inches of pack space in a supportive and functional pack design that weighs less than three pounds. If you ever wanted a supportive and lightweight backpack for moving fast and far, the Osprey Atmos 50 is easily one of the most comfortable light packs on the planet. Anything that touches your back is covered with a breathable mesh or a special perforated waffle foam that won't heat you up like conventional backpanel fabrics. The backpanel on the Atmos 50 is stretched taut so the load sinks evenly into the lumbar support area instead of riding on your hips, resulting in uniform pressure that neutralizes hot spots. Two quick release straps on the other side of the backpanel attach to your hydration pouch for fast refill access and versatile hydration tube routing. If you're looking for a lightweight pack for fast overnight trips or minimalist backpacking adventures, the Atmos 50 backpack is one of the lightest and most comfortable designs you'll find today. Osprey lightens up for fastpacking minimalists and active adventurers. 3,200 cu. in. capacity.
  • Nice hips - I compared this pack to a Gregory very closely before i purchased. The two packs sit very differently on your body. I like the Osprey because it sits squarely on the hips more like an external fram pack but without the sloppyness. The ultralight flexible frame moves the weight to the hip blet evenly. Gregory packs and many other internal frame packs put a bunch of weight onto the small of your back. This feels good at first but for 20+ miles in one outing put the weight on my hips please. As with any pack you might wander off into the world with try it on before you buy it.
  • Great pack different than others i have owned but great - This is a pretty cool pack very light has lots of room for the essentials. Packing it is a little different from other packs due to the way the internal frame is designed. I found I have to pack the outside pockets first than do the inside or else I have a diffucult time packing what I want in the outside pockets. All in all very light and very comfortable. Would definitely buy again...
  • mpvilmain2@msn.com - The best! I now own six backpacks that will never be used again because of the Osprey Atmos 50. Thanks
  • Its True - As everyone else claims this is a fantastic pack. Just bought it for a friend who can hardly wait to load it up and hit the trails. The mesh back is a great feature as are the perforated hip and shoulder belts. Its super light contours to the body and has plenty of room. A great choice!
  • BEST ALL ROUND PACK I OWN - I have 80L 90L and multiple 25L and below backs and was looking to get a 35L and a 50-65L to finish off the group. Through reviews and recommendations from friends I started off with Osprey's Atmos 50. Glad I did I really don't need the 35L version now (although I'm sure it's still a good pack). All the other good points listed in other reviews are true my personal highlights for pros are as follows: top note for the waste strap doesn't look like much at first(worried actually) until I put it on smooth and very good distribution on waste (no pinching) and takes weight well. The little details of pouches in waste strap and user friendly front compartments was well thought out. The airflow system works as advertised I'm a natural born sweater and where this doesn't eliminate the problem it does reduce the problem more than any other backpack I've tried or seen on the market good call boys! Nothing else unique on the pack has all the other basics expected on a higher end pack. One and only concern is the durability the materials are very light and construction is good I fear that these new generation of backpacks (other companies switching to similar materials) are more susceptible to tearing on a branch or other gear during the trip out but only time will tell. So until that tear happens this pack makes giving a 5 easy. If you're looking for a 25 - 65L pack save the trouble of time and money and pick this one up. Cheers and enjoy!
  • Awesome Pack! - I have used this pack more times than I can count! Everything I need for a 3-4 day hike. I just took it on a 20 mile hike through the Ouchita Mountains (around Arkansas/Texas/Oklahoma) for 4 days. Held my Tent (Marmot Twilight 2) Thermarest Sleeping Bag (Marmot Sawtooth) 2 Nalgene bottles a bladder for water medkit repair kit about 10 pounds of food and about 20 other gadgets on it! The Atmos was very breathable (The hikers I went with has large sweat stains on their shoulders and waist which made them cold the entire time and I did not!) Vey convienent pockets made the trek that much more easy and enjoyable! Very good buy and well worth the money!
  • You might just fall in love! - I did SO MUCH research before buying this as it's my first pack and I live far away from camping stores. Out here on the Big Island of Hawaii it's great to have a pack that I can use for lightweight day pack adventuring that keeps me dry as well as for a few overnighters camping or travelling without a problem. The red color is beautiful and shiney.I baby it a little...The zippers are alot tougher than I sometimes thi
